On Wednesday me and the OH celebrated 8 years together. What better way to celebrate than to eat our bodyweight in Thai food..
The restaurant of choice was Thaikhun the relatively new Thai restaurant from the creators of Thai fine-dining Chaophraya. Thaikhun concentrates on the busling street food of Bangkok which is emulated in its crazy interior.
We started with a Bangkok street platter – 4 in 1 classics such as Chicken and pork skewers, steamed chicken balls, prawn and chicken wontons with various dips. This was incredibly tasty with great flavours.
Next was some old faithfuls, Thai green curry, Pad Thai and beef in oyster sauce. Each dish was wonderful and although we were very full. Our plates were left squeaky clean.
Although there are a few teething problems, such as a long weight for our main courses and waiters dropping trying to drop off other peoples food/drinks to our table it definitely hasn’t put me off and I will be back again.
Today me and the O/H stumbled across the manchester picnic. The event is running Friday to Sunday at Piccadilly Gardens with an array of food vendors such as Matilda’s, Fire & Salt BBQ and Piggy Smalls. There’s also entertainment on such as DJs and singers. We caught a gent doing a fantastic acoustic set, unfortunately I didn’t catch his name. The food is fab, good prices and a lovely atmosphere.
Get yourselves down there!
My poor attempt at pictures!
So, I managed to get my little mitts of Benefits new eyeliner just before it goes on sale.
I was very excited to try this little tester as I am an avid fan of eyeliner and use it most days.
After taking it out of the tester packaging I was greeted with a little tube and without any instruction I started to squeeze the top. A big old blob of eyeliner came out. After trying again it only seemed to come out of the bottom part of the opening meaning a much less precise application on the eye.
I would say the liner had a gel like consistency but was quite difficult to use and I ended up with quite a think line.
In conclusion I don’t think i’d be forking out for this eyeliner. It was hard to control, hard to apply and although i’m not sure on the RRP I would much prefer to buy MAC fluidline that I can not fault.
** After a couple of hours of wear the eyeliner has flaked off on my left eye. I have never had that before!
It’s 4pm on a Saturday and I still have the worst hangover… It can only mean one thing. A bloody good night at Cuckoo Prestwich!
The independent bar on Bury New Road has been up and running for quite a few months but i’ve never had the chance to go; until they introduced a new pizza wood burning oven and for one night only the pizzas were half price!
Unfortunately I was that hungry I didn’t take a piccie myself but he’s the Alegro pizza I ordered taken from their twitter account.
Taken from @cuckooprestwich
Although small, it was an incredibly tasty and flavoursome delight with capers and anchovies.
The Gin and tonics weren’t too bad either!
Over all a fantastic addition to the social scene in North Manchester, I can’t wait to go back.
Old Granada Studios. after it closed it’s doors for the last time as a bona fide Television dream centre in January it really has had a resurgence after Alied london took over. With the Corrie tour, vintage and food markets and now the ITV World Cup fan park.
I worked at Granada Quay Street for three years until we moved down the road to the shiny new Media City in Salford. Although it may have been a little tired you could really feel the television magic running through the corridors and studios. You literally didn’t know who or what you’d bump into day to day! I tell you if those walls could talk!
I think it’s fantastic that this building has a new chance at life and has not been knocked down like the BBC building on Oxford Road.
Old Granada Studios will be hosting weekly events, this weekend includes the BITE market, vinatge fair and the British Street Food Awards. Get yourself down there!
On Saturday a couple of friends and I headed down to the Woodland Spa in Burnley for a nice relaxing day and we were not disappointed. We chose to partake in the Thermal Experience and afternoon tea purchased through Lastminute.com
Upon arriving in reception we were greeted by a friendly member of staff who talked us through the day and showed us to the changing rooms.
The robe, towel and flip flops were waiting for us in the lockers, a nice touch I thought.
Upon entering the Spa we we’re instantly relaxed, the heat and the beautiful aroma made us feel at ease. We we’re instructed to go to each thermal area in a particular order, this included steam room, sauna even ice bucket showers! During this time we could relax in the hot tubs both inside and in the outside area, where a cocktail or wine was served if you so wish!
Fancy a cocktail?
After a relaxing morning and early afternoon it was time to stuff out little faces in the bar area upstairs.
My word did we stuff our faces, the afternoon tea is plentiful and delicious.
All for me!
Without a doubt I would go back again to The Woodland Spa.
This review was paid for by me and is impartial.
Hello everyone! I don’t know if you’re fans of shellac but I wanted to do a mini review of my new shellac polish Bluesky light blue no. A101.
I really love the colour; a lovely summer pastel, very good coverage and super shiny!
The polish has been on for 9 days now and has held up pretty well apart from a small chip on my thumb caused by the removal of a price sticker.. Grrr!!
Here is the colour on the brush.
I have an array of colours from both CND and Bluesky and I really feel it’s down to the colour as to it’s staying power no matter what brand you’re using. Unfortunately this means it’s abit of a gamble but for just £5 for a bottle of Bluesky on Ebay you can’t go wrong!
I would definitely advise anyone to get this colour.
